I don't think it is an elimination game (from the NCAA) for either team. I think it is an important game. If Kentucky wins, certainly it gives them a leg up (over us) because they will have beat us twice. But there is still too much basketball to be played for both teams to say this is an elimination game. |
I enjoy the NIT. I don't know if anyone wants their legacy to be he was a great NIT coach, but by the same token, when you're given the opportunity to play in the tournament, you're excited about it. |
I felt like we could win coming in, all the way through the game I thought we could win. But when I really felt like the door opened was ... the intentional foul. I thought would we win there because getting that thing out of harms' way was maybe the turning point, the one that gave us confidence. |
I have a lot of faith in them. I have a lot of confidence in them. They have done what we asked them to do in the summer. They have done it willingly. |
I have time on my contract. I fully intend to honor it. |
I know (Kinsey) would have been here. It's one of those things: He wasn't here on time, so he doesn't start. That throws Renaldo back in there. |
I know when you look at the annals of college basketball, he was truly one of the best. Even today, he's revered. Those teams he coached when you go back and look them up could be the best in the country at the time. |
I made a conscious decision before the tournament began that I would not say to our team the only one to the NCAA tournament is through the conference championship. Our team knows they're playing in a championship game tomorrow. I'm going to push them to win that thing. I'm going to push them as hard as I can. |
I think it's a good rule. I do think you might find three (or) four teams (with losing records in the NIT). I don't think that's bad. I think it would be bad if you had an abnormal number, whatever that is, seven or eight. I don't think that would be right. |
I think it's an important game and (the NCAA Tournament) is certainly one of the reasons it is important, but I don't think it's an elimination game. The team that loses, I don't think is out. And the reverse of that is also true. I don't think the team that wins is in. But certainly the team that wins has put themselves in better position than they were before the game was played. |
I think it's very cloudy at this point and I want better than that for him. He's come a long way as a person and a long way as a player. ... There are still things he must prove. And I think the best place to prove it is right here over the course of a long season. |
I think most veteran coaches (and) most fans understand that it is easier to create a tournament atmosphere, a basketball-like atmosphere in a building that is made for basketball. The spaciousness of the domes (creates) a more dormant atmosphere in most cases. |
I think the bigger cause for them is their coach at this point. They're trying to give him that job permanently. |
I think they've got a positive attitude that pervades their whole program. They expect to play well and they expect to win. |
I think we know how Michigan wants to play style-wise, but can we stop them - I don't know. In college basketball, it is always about style and how styles contrast. My guess is that it is going to be low scoring. We are not going to give up a lot of points. Whether we score enough points to win, I don't know. |
