I take the same approach every time. Early in the count I'm hoping they throw me a mistake and that's what I feel like happened in the first couple of at-bats. It's really important when another team makes a mistake, you've really got to bury them. You have to go right after them and make those mistakes hurt. I think our team did a good job of that. |
I've been seeing the ball well for a couple of weeks now. I don't know what else to say, he gave me something I could handle and I swung as hard as I could. We came out with a ton of intensity. That's the challenge coach (Ryan) Roberts gave us to come out and have good solid at-bats. Once we got started it was hard to stop. |
In those first two at-bats, I was just looking for a pitch to drive. I felt like I was in a zone, like the ball was in slow motion. |
It was a huge at-bat, because the game was pretty close. We had guys on first and second, so in my mind I was thinking gap-to-gap, trying to hit a double. The pitcher hung me a curve ball, so I got a little out in front but stayed through and hit it down the line. We got both runs in. |
It's always a lot of fun to come out and play a good game against a team I used to play for. I've still got a lot of friends on that team; I've still got some teammates that I played with on that team. |
That's important, when the other team makes mistakes, you've got to bury them. |
There's a little bit of a rivalry there. |
