I'm not thinking about that right now, but he's playing in winter ball right now and Tony Pena told us he's doing well down there. We didn't think Cano would be ready until 2006, but he had a great winter ball season last year, showed up at camp and continued it. Some guys push themselves in the mix quicker. |
I'm signed for next year. |
I'm very happy with where he's at. |
I'm very proud of his accomplishments. For a guy that wasn't even expected to have an impact on this roster, to finish second ... it's a great accomplishment. |
I'm very proud of what we've done the last five years. Someone else has earned the World Series those years, so we have to dust ourselves off, get up in the saddle again and keep at it. |
I've been burned before. But I haven't been burned this year. |
I've been keeping up with everything, ... I can multitask. You have to, or you lose ground. I've been busy communicating with clubs and player agents. |
I've got nothing to report. |
If he gets through all that, September is very realistic. He's come a long way and has some hurdles to clear, but it would be great to get him back. |
If he has interest in us, we'll discuss it. |
If we had won today, we'd be going to New York. |
In the first week, we're second in the league in runs scored and second in the league in ERA. If we can keep that balance the way it is, we'll win a lot of games. |
It happened there. Right now, he's OK to stay out there and try and help the U.S. team obviously in a limited way now. |
It pushes him back. How long, I can't say. He's a starter, so we have to build him up. Dr. Watkins was very optimistic that he'll be back for us at some point. I just don't know when. |
It really depends on the person. Some guys, closing is in their blood and it's all they want to do. Other guys feel it's an honor to set up for Mo and also play for the Yankees. |
