I guess I just look at it as I don't have to go out there and feed my cows and load hay every morning. I'm still going to be out there moving fence every day, but there's a difference--you don't have to harvest it, put it in the bin, take it out, run it through the grinder, then feed it to them. All you do is move fence. I'm just letting the cows go get it. |
I've always wanted to work toward year-round grazing and thought this would be a good opportunity to get to where I didn't have to start feeding hay as soon. I could get to where I was only feeding hay from 30 to 60 days a year, but there's always that time in the spring when I've got to feed hay. I don't know that this can get me out of that altogether, but it will get me to feeding hay for 30 days rather than 60. |
