We've worked Chris in there and (sophomore) Travis Chambers in there. We've got some other guys that we've worked as emergency-type guys. |
Well, we didn't allow any first downs in the second half. That's pretty impressive. It was a great job by the defense. They only gave up a couple of big runs. Other than that, they really didn't give up much else. |
What that makes us do is be great tacklers. If they want to get the ball out before you get there, they can get the ball out, but that means they're not getting the ball very far down the field. |
What they do is make you play assignment football. Somebody's got to take the running back. Somebody's got to take the quarterback. Somebody's got to take the wide receiver coming around for the hitch. Then, you have to be ready for the play-action pass. They make you monitor threats, and that cuts down your pursuit, if you're not careful. |
What we've proven is that we can play from behind and play good in the second half, |
When we have everybody healthy and hitting on all cylinders, we're a pretty good football team. We feel like we can compete week in and week out with anybody in the country. |
You always try to put guys in position to excel and use the abilities they have. I know what he's good at, and that's going down the field and catching balls. |
You can't worry about that kind of stuff. The bottom line is does a guy fit your program. How does he fit the profile for some recruiting group out there is irrelevant. It's whether they fit your program, and can they help you win. |
You don't know what the kinks in the armor are until you see him play more. You didn't see the vulnerability in that ballgame. |
You have to give him credit for what he did, ... instead of maybe complaining about what he didn't do. |
You still have to be able to generate your own enthusiasm, and you can't allow the crowd to dictate how you play. Whether it's loud or quiet, you can't let it affect you. |
You take a force off the field that has been an all-conference player, that certainly hurts you. |
You turn it over like that and they score on the turnovers and that's how blowouts happen. |
You'll have to ask him. |
You're running low on numbers anyway. You really are limited in some respects. |
