As a ninth grader, over the summer, he was down in Florida working with Tiger Woods on his short game. We had never been invited to go to Florida or North Carolina for tournaments. I realize that we've got two of the best players in the United States, and I'm thankful for that. |
Gerald tattooed him in the nose or the eye, I think. As sophomores, I used to stay and watch, and hope no one got hurt. |
He's a man-child. He goes up as high or higher than any high school player I've ever seen. |
He's always cool under pressure. He's always been that way. He was trying to stay calm, and I was going crazy. |
It was freezing at the start. But we've warmed up. |
It's intense, but then they'll walk off and get something to eat together. I've seen that competition test-wise, too [academically]. 'What did you get? I'll do better than you.' You see that desire to be the best. |
That was one of our long-range goals for the season. |
They are unselfish. They are good kids. They'll graduate from here. They're solid citizens, and you can't ask for much more. |
They at least could have disguised it. Maybe a shot clock could be good, but I see a lot of problems. |
They were doubling up on Wayne and Gerald whenever they had the ball which freed up (Tim) Ivory and (Pat) Kelly. Kelly had some open looks in the first half and passed them up for whatever reason. But he nailed those 3 threes in the third quarter, which was key. |
We buried him the week before we came out here. |
We won the league, that was the goal we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season. Our next goal is to finish undefeated in the league. |
Who do I root for? I have to keep it straight and narrow. |
