I see this all over the place. It's fine during Black History Month to talk about Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King in very superficial terms. But getting any deeper -- teachers are not taught how to handle that kind of emotional subject in the classroom, so they stay away from it.
We don't have real-life exposure to other cultures. We think we live in a melting pot of a country, be we really don't.
