I strongly believe Ned is the right person to lead the Milwaukee Brewers on the field. His work ethic, leadership skills and passion for the Brewers fans coupled with his commitment to make the entire organization successful confirmed to us that this was the right thing to do as we move forward in our pursuit of playing in the post-season. |

I think he can have fun with players, but he can also jump their (expletive) when he has to. He'll go up and pat them on the back, but if you make a some stupid, idiotic play or don't hustle, he has no fear of walking down to the end of the bench and letting you know it. |
I think Ned is a lot like Bobby. I think the players respect him like they do Bobby. I know he stays in touch with Bobby all the time, so there is some impact there. |
I think that this team here is a team that we can pretty well keep the most of it together for a period of time. |
I want our doctors to look at him back home. After they evaluate him, we'll make a decision. If they don't think he'll be able to pitch in another week, we'll probably have to DL him and call up a long reliever. |
I was proud of our young guys playing against them at the end. I like the Japanese game. I'd like to learn some of their techniques and practice methods. I've never been to Japan, and I was talking to [farm director] Reid Nichols and saying we should probably go over there sometime. When you watch their workouts, they are very meticulous. I'd like to play them a lot more. I enjoy their style of play. |
I went to our professional scouting staff and said we're trading Kolb, find someone to replace him. We challenge them; they evaluate talent and make decisions. |
I won't be drinking Corona for a while. |
I wouldn't have a problem with Billy Hall playing third base. One thing about Billy, he'll work at it. |
I'm going into my fourth year, and we did require patience the first few years. We had to tell the fans that it wasn't going to be a one-year turnaround, or a two-year turnaround. It was going to take a couple years' time. |
I'm more confident with him than I've been with any young player I've ever been associated with. |
In the past, we maybe had a little more patience. We're not going to have the same amount of patience in the big leagues, because we want to win. |
It required patience by our fans, by our ownership, by ourselves. There's a tendency to say, 'Jeez, how much we lose and lose?' But it's worked out well. The plans worked out well last year. |
It's a bump in the road for us in the process of his coming back. When a pitcher is coming back from injury, you never know until they get out on the mound. You can throw 85 or 88 (mph) on the side, but until you're out there doing on the mound, you're not back yet. It's like a football player with a knee injury. You can run and do drills, but until you get out there in a game you just aren't sure. |
