And then obviously our team, we had better people, high-character guys, good leadership. It's just one of those things. In '03, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. And then last year, everything that could have gone right went right. We were not a 4-12 team in '03, even though our record showed that. We were better than that. Just due to circumstances, that's the way we finished. We all got stronger through that experience. I don't think we could have accomplished what we did last year if we hadn't gone through that in '03. |
As a team, ... we've got to kick it up a notch. |
At the start of the season, our goal was to win a championship. We were expecting to be in the playoffs, so that wasn't even a goal. |
Because of the matchups that he creates, when we're trying to throw him the ball, he's able to get open in a lot of different ways against just about anybody, |
Champ Bailey just sat on the route and made a great play, ... You don't want to start a half like that, but we still had a lot of football after that. |
Definitely a game we should have won. To have the momentum we did, to be down on the yard-and-a-half line when we were up 14-10, we felt we had a great chance to put them away. |
Definitely by training camp I'll be out there getting ready to have a great season. No concern whatsoever. |
Definitely, it's best for both of us. Obviously, I'm not surprised by anything that happens any more. I've made it known I want to be here and, hopefully, that will happen. I'd like to say if it were up to me, they'd sign me long term and I'd be the guy here for my whole career. . . . You win football games and everything takes care of itself. |
Dog!. I got me some. |
Doug has been great to us, ... He'll come up on the sideline, even if we don't ask him a question, and say, 'Did you see what I did? The reason I did that was because I saw this or that, or they were blitzing a linebacker.' He lays it out for you where you wouldn't know otherwise. It's great, because Doug's my kind of player. He can do a lot of things that other guys can't. |
Everybody was yelling 'we love you Flutie,' and 'you should be the starter.' They're yelling everything, ... They love the guy there. They were yelling stuff at him about when he was the starter back in the '80s, saying 'they never should have let you go.' |
Gates is fine, ... He's relaxed and he knows his place. We'll just continue to try and get that feel back with one another and whenever he gets on the field, we'll be ready. |
He is aggressive and he has a nose for the end zone, ... Giving the ball to him is our best bet. |
He is very powerful, ... You can't really tackle him with one guy. You see him break tackles all the time, like he did on the last touchdown. Obviously his ability to catch the football is special. |
