I think at the outset there are a lot of games that would have to be broadcast so it's difficult to look at it at this point as a network play at that time of year. But I'd like to believe down the road once this tournament evolves that our interest will grow. |
I think Game 1 of this World Series - if you go back three years or four years - will do better (ratings wise) than we did back then. I think (in terms of ratings) this World Series will hold up extremely well. |
I think it will be an entertaining booth, ... A three-man booth has limitations. Most people prefer a two-man booth. |
I think just to look at ratings compared to past years, there's a lot more to the story. |
I think the concept is a wonderful concept. It'll be carried on television. Because of the nationalism involved, it could take on greater meaning in countries like Japan or the Dominican Republic or Venezuela than perhaps it would in the United States. But because of the nationalistic feeling, it could be a nice little launching pad because it is played in March. I think it's an interesting concept that should grow over the years. If you give it time, five or six or seven years from now, this could be a nice addition to the sports landscape and a big event. |
I wasn't sure I had the right game on, ... I was listening to a professional broadcaster. He was clear, concise and telling. |
I've already suggested to Joe and Troy that I expect the booth to be even better this season, |
If you have a 30-0 game in the third quarter and you flex off that game and go to a more competitive game, you get calls complaining from both sides, ... It goes with the territory. |
It is clearly No. 2. |
It's not a case of who's in the booth increasing ratings, ... But unless you present your best face, you stand a chance of losing ratings. We feel it (the cost of a third member of the team) is a wash. |
It's not easy to have valid comments over the course of a three-hour broadcast. But Troy knows what happened before the replay comes up. He leads us. He has valid comments and is opinionated. He's making his mark week by week. |
It's safe to say that Fox and NBC have not made money on the NASCAR deal. It would maybe even be safe to say that we lost money (Fox in 2002 wrote off $297 million on its NASCAR rights investment). |
Lou was looking forward to working the Series, but family comes first. He still might be available if the hurricane turns left or right. |
NFL coaches are the masters of coach-speak. In baseball, I think we get some solid information. I think it's an asset to get clarifications on in-game situations. I think it's very effective. |
No one has been as effective as quickly as Troy, |
