She's making a real case for being the starting point guard, ... She makes shots and she makes plays. She's assertive. Part of being a really good player is acting like one. She acts like a real good player. She walks around and talks and acts and carries herself like, `I'm really good.' |
She's one of those impact players that makes them when we need them. I can't think of anybody we'd rather have shooting the ball. |
She's stretching it out. She does whatever she has to do. |
She's very good under pressure. She's not bothered by it. I knew she was going to make those free throws. |
She's very, very good under pressure. She doesn't get bothered by anything. That's why she's kind of hard for me to coach because when I talk to her, she don't listen because she's not affected by anything. I knew she was going to make the free throws. |
Since I'm not going to be in Boston playing Sunday and Tuesday (at the women's Final Four) I wouldn't mind being in Indianapolis. |
So to me, one way to stop that is don't put us here. Put us somewhere else and at another venue where 2,500 are in the stands. There's always an alternative, you know. |
So, yeah, I'm going to try to win the national championship next year. But I'm not going to kill myself doing it. I'm not going to kill my players either. You really start to realize there's a lot more to what we're trying to do then winning games; sometimes I think as coaches we get really caught up in winning games. Now that I look back, I'm going to try to take a different spin on it, and try to look at things differently. |
Some teams would have gone from down 17 to down 27. They went on a 12-0 run. That says a lot about them. |
Some teams would have maybe gone from 17 down to 27 down right away. That says a lot about (Louisville). |
Sometimes the reaction (to losing) is more of you're just stunned and you have no (outward) reaction. So you just sit there and you stare into space, and there's a pretty good chance that that will happen to you again because you have no idea what just happened and you don't know how to deal with it. |
Sometimes you get it right and you have to kind of enjoy the moment. That last five minutes, the defensive stops that we made, the things that we accomplished, that's what good teams have to do. |
Sometimes you just have to hope they play bad. |
Sometimes you think things and you hope they don't happen. But you kind of know that it's coming. You come off some of the games that we just had and you come home and you walk around like you're feeling pretty good. You're playing a team that's missing their best player, and probably physically we're not 100 percent coming out of that trip. So if you put all those things into the mix, it made for one really lousy performance by us. |
Starting next week, however many games we have left, if there's 20, then in 17 of those games, she's going to have to play like the best point guard in the country for us to win some of the games that we're going to have to win. That's a lot of pressure on a freshman. |
