 The bottom line is that NSEERS is a failed and unfair program. An understaffed INS (Immigration and Naturalization Services) couldn't implement the program and almost 14,000 of those who complied were placed in deportation proceedings.

 The country is wasting its resources in trying to reach out to the Americans through their media. Such a strategy has turned out to be counter-productive.

 The fact is, this creates more of a chill than cooperation.

 They have a surplus of capital, and they're doing quite well.

 They recognized the Taliban, as did Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, because the United States wanted them to.

 They've made a terrible error in calculation and they've led my country into a war that we will need to extricate ourselves from at some point, ... Despite their efforts, there is a growing sense in the world that we need to find other ways of resolving these tensions.

 This really is no more than Arab-phobia. For these politicians, the national interest of the United States is synonymous with their next election. They're not thinking this is a real threat. It's an election year, it's an Arab country, and there's a post-9/11 insecurity they can exploit. It's a lethal brew, and they're stirring it for all it's worth.

 We continue to oppose the use of military force and think that there's a very significant risk of grave unrest in the Arab world.

 We see Arabs as an objectified problem. We see the culture as less than ours, we see them as more violent than we are.

 What started this and drives this is bigotry.

 When you have members of Congress literally tripping over themselves to run to a microphone and they're saying, 'The Arabs are coming, the Arabs are coming,' preying off that fear because it's an Arab country, that constitutes bigotry.
