It's a blatant political compromise. It's a sad day for arts in our town. I don't think the art museum belongs in a building that has been called a beer can from Day One. This is just mediocre.
Public access had never been an issue until now. Now, I think the commissioners see this as a way to jettison public access because they don't like some of the people on there.
The museum is probably so happy to have it over that they'll go along with it. But I think that's sad. For the future of this city it certainly doesn't set a high standard for arts. It's a make-do.
