Before the holiday break, the kids were really looking forward to seeing dolphins and learning about them. Now that everyone's back, I have to calm them down and say 'just a few more days.' There's just that much excitement around this program. |
For the kids to be able to see for themselves and take part in something that many will never have the opportunity of doing means a lot to them. It (Immersion) sparks their curiosity in ways school will never be able to, and the kids really appreciate that. |
I can't say enough for what this program has done for those involved. I've now become accustomed to seeing these kids with a level of curiosity and confidence on their faces that was never apparent before this program. Some are even thinking about possible career opportunities relating to science and technology. What more could one want from a program like this? |
I'm really truly amazed by the level of interactivity the program provides. It's obvious the kids are taken with the program because there's always maximum attendance; it's become a positive place in the evening. |
I've had Officers Giordano and C.B. Anderson come down and help out with the kids. The last thing I would ever want is a kid to grow up despising the police and other agencies of the government. Sometimes, though, with the households these kids come from - either drug-use or crime related - it's inevitable. |
This program was hugely successful in 2005, and we just received a grant to run it again. I love this program because it keeps kids off the streets, and more than that, it's fun for them. |
