(Playing the Dodgers) is kind of special. It was five years that I spent there. In my opinion they were five very special years. There were a lot of very special things we accomplished there. There were things that some people thought we were never going to have a chance to do, but we did. |
(Sunday) I did not see Oliver pitching. I saw him just throwing and relying on stuff. If you do that and you fall behind in the count, you're not going to have much success. |
[It's] something we've been missing. |
[Perez] battled. He needed a little additional help there. Unfortunately, he didn't get it. |
[We needed] a couple of two-out singles that would have put us right back in the game. We didn't get them. |
[When you] come up through a minor-league system, you know -- you know -- early on that, when you get a hitter to no balls and two strikes, a ball over the middle of the plate is not a good location. |
1-7 is obviously not the way you want to start. It's not a sample size of games where you fully judge what kind of baseball team you are going to be over the course of six months. |
A base hit there changes the complexion of the game. |
A base hit there could have helped you along. |
A day like today -- that's something that happens even with an 'ace' of the staff. |
A little thing like that can end up winning you a baseball game. |
A lot of it had to do with things that basically evolved in the restructuring of the club, |
A spectacular game. I don't think you'd anticipate much less. |
A very wonderful note, I might add. A very professionally done thing. |
About mid-thigh, right down the middle. They're going to hit pitches like that -- Cody or anybody else. |
