At least I know (where the hits) are coming from. I don't mind getting hit, as long as I know where it's coming from. (That's) when you hurry passes, and the timing is off with the receivers. |
He may be the smartest out of all of us as far as the amount of time he has been in the system. He has picked it up as quick or quicker than anybody. I think he's got real good football smarts. |
He's a Thomas Howard-like linebacker who just flies around. |
I'm real excited to see what they'll do. I'm excited to see them out there, getting reps. |
It was good, across the board. If we run the ball, we're going to be more productive. Every spring, all across the country, the offensive line is a little behind the defensive line. |
Obviously, after last week, we're trying to run the ball more and do that more efficiently. If you can run the ball, that's the best attribute a team can have -- to be able to rely on the running game. I think we got away from that a little bit last year. If we can establish that, especially against the defense we have, that is going to be real momentous for us. |
The biggest thing is that, the reason we've had trouble running the ball so far, is that we keep going against three down linemen fronts. And that's just different. It's unorthodox. It's a whole new different set of blocking schemes. (Tulane) runs what we do, four down linemen. And it's just so much more natural. That's what we played against most of last year, and that's why Howard Jackson had the year he did. Because that's what we were used to and it's just basic blocking. |
The number one thing I want as a quarterback is a strong running game. |
We're excited and at the same time we have to start getting prepared. I'm looking forward to having a game in southern California. Texas Tech will be huge here, with a really exciting atmosphere. New Mexico State is always fun. Now, though, we will just have to focus on getting better in February. Then March. |
