I came in ready to start. If they put me in the bullpen, where it looks I will be, I'll be ready. |
I didn't do my job and that's disappointing, especially this late in the season, ... I kept the ball down for the most part, but when I was up, they hit the ball pretty good. |
I didn't do my job tonight, keeping us in the ball game. It's disappointing this late in the year having an outing like this. My cutter wasn't sharp. I didn't establish my fastball. |
I knew it was a foul ball. They made the right call. |
I knew the ball bounced, I knew they'd reverse it. |
It's a long season, you're going to go through spells like this where you're not scoring runs, but we didn't panic early, we're not going to panic now. |
It's going to be fun. We're going to give it our all, give it our best shot. |
My mother is the most giving person I have ever met. She's always worried about others more than she is herself. She can use this Sunday as a tool to help others. She wants to better others. |
Obviously we have a couple of guys who aren't here yet so someone has to take their innings. I'm just trying to get the feel of going three or four innings. |
She's not one to ever show too much emotion. She has a high pain tolerance, holds everything inside, and that kind of personality is the best way to handle this. |
That's when we play good. We don't make errors, we put the ball in play, and we throw strikes. That's our recipe for winning. |
The defense was the key tonight and our offense was our offense of old. Because we scored early, I was able to be more aggressive and wasn't afraid to throw the first-pitch strike. I was able to pound the strike zone and get our guys back to the bench. |
The depth of our team is mind-boggling. It will be fun to see how it all gets pieced together. (Manager Ken) Macha has so many weapons at his disposal, he could have a different lineup every day and the 10th one would be as good as the first. |
We learned the game the same way and in the same style. He's made a good name for himself. It's cool to see guys come from the same place you did and see them succeed. You pull for them. |
We were throwing a lot of curveballs and cutters. When you have a left-handed-dominated lineup and I throw backdoor cutters, that's a pitch that for the most part, if they don't hit it for a base hit, it's probably going to be a flyball out. ... I work so hard on the inside part of the plate with my cutter that when I do throw it on the backside, they have a tendency to hit that ball in the air, and not with authority. |
