And you know the officers are truly, truly concerned with the other officers who will be coming into the department -- their nephews, their nieces, their sons, their daughters. They want to make sure that if and when they get to that type of position they will be afforded the same benefits, the same fair treatment as every other officer. |

I think what this lawsuit does is say that there are some officers in the department that have some misunderstanding about the African-American community and those misconceptions, and those stereotypes need to be addressed. |
It is not only racist, it is offensive. It perpetrates so many stereotypes that have been labeled against the African-American community. |
When they're in the boardroom, they're detached from that. They see complaints on paper. |
