From the day it started, it has been an asset to the city and the community, along with the Sea Dogs, Portland Stage (and other attractions). It's more than just a store that sells food. I'd love to see it stay a public market, because it fills the niche. But it has to make financial sense. |

I guess one has to ask is this a single-use kind of facility? Lately, I've been talking with people in what's called the creative economy - dancers, artists, performers. They've started to wonder if maybe the public market might be a place for community art. |
