[Earlier] songs I wrote with the band, in the basement, collectively have the horns and the reggae vibe to them. These songs, I went and wrote, like, SONG-songs. Now, I'm writing again, and I'm back to the reggae stuff. It was really like a moment in time.

a number of management changes to streamline the company's organizational structure and sharpen the focus of its business activities.

Don't be afraid to dance with the person next to you as long as they are cool with it.

He wasn't this thing that everybody always paints him to be. He wasn't a devil who got with Dave Matthews and changed everything. He's just a dude. He's completely natural. That threw me off and got me so excited.

Honestly, this is the best record - obviously - that we've ever done in the studio. You can't argue with that. It's not to knock what we've done in the past - they have their time and place - but I don't think I've ever felt that comfortable before in the studio.  In the past, we let ourselves be limited by time or attitudes or whatever. This time I just thought, 'Why not do the best we can?'

It's really an homage to back in the day, when I'd sit in the basement with my buddies when we were 10 and call and request a song - and they'd play it! That -- doesn't happen any more. If I could redo the song, it would change a little bit, because it's not completely finished. But the idea's right - one of our goals is to get into this system like a virus and then open the doors for other bands like us. Our intentions are good.

Oh, man, I love Jerry - we have a great time. I love the Talking Heads,

Sure. I should do all those things. That's great.

We were never burdened with the ability to solo for 20 minutes. It wasn't really an option. If I could do a solo like half the guys out there, I would.

We're basically capturing that same emotion. I think a lot of folks miss out on the art of things these days, so we're gonna try to find it.
