Any time you can go deep into a game, especially when you're playing so many games in a row, it helps those guys out in the bullpen, ... Being that it's September, there are a lot of people who need the extra day's rest. |
As well as Lilly was throwing, I didn't give our team much of a chance. |
Every time he's been in there he's pitched his butt off and he did it once again today. |
Everything I tried, they hit. |
Having a lot of pitching is usually a good problem to have because you're usually going to need it at some point. |
He came up with a great play that will probably get overlooked. It was huge. |
He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch. |
He's just a few months out of college. That's unbelievable. It took me five years to get to where he is now. You obviously don't get here that quick without talent. |
He's the best clutch player I've ever seen. If that's not enough to win the MVP, I don't know what is. |
Hopefully I get a chance to redeem myself (as a Game 5 starter). But if it's in relief, I'll do whatever they need me to do. |
Hopefully, ... we'll see what we're used to seeing out of Curt Schilling. |
How good has the bullpen been all year? They've been awesome. |
I didn't consider it a struggle. I thought [the pitches] were pretty close. I was not wild and all over the place, like I've been in those sitiuations lots of times. But it was nice to be able to battle out of it, and nice to pick up a game on [the Yankees]. |
I don't expect it to be a problem or anything that's an issue. I think (Nipper) kind of comes out of Wally's mold, in a way. To me, a pitching coach is more of a psychologist than a pitching coach. |
I don't think we're worried about who's the underdog or the favorite, we just get to the postseason and now you have the opportunity, ... Hopefully, we can seize it. |
