[Kenseth, the 2003 series champion, was happy just to get a crack at his second title.] I'm relieved, but I'm more than relieved. I'm excited, ... We were way behind two months ago. We just kept digging and digging. I feel like we have some momentum. |
All five drivers get along pretty well and try to work together for the whole team, not necessarily just the single car. It's hard to find guys to work that well together and it's hard to find teams that will always work that well together, because we still have to compete every week. |
All five of us are trying to race for the championship. It's silly to help anyone when you're going for it yourself. When Kurt went ahead, he had the better car. We didn't play it conservative. He just had the better car tonight. |
All the Roush cars are running well, and it's fun to be a part of that organization now. |
Compared to the competition, I was pretty happy with the car — the way it drove and what our speeds were. |
Every driver loves speed- and Texas doesn't disappoint. |
Everybody is working together. It's great to be a part of this team right now. |
First of all, we haven't made it yet, |
Gee, I don't know. I guess if you're Jimmie Johnson, it smells like money. |
He [Stewart ] is out here a week ago, making ridiculous statements, getting everyone all upset because he says we are going to kill someone. Then he comes out here and does that kind of stuff all day. Was it intentional ? It looked that way to me. |
He doesn't always do what's best for him. He always did the best for the organization on the racetrack. Three years ago, Mark (Martin) was running for a championship. Kurt was leading (at) Rockingham, and Mark was running second. Kurt pulled over so Mark could get the points for leading the most laps. Things like that, most people would never think of doing. |
He knocked me out of the way. I thought if he had a run on me, had me beat, that would have been OK. But he drove extra hard and knocked me out of the way. I thought it was a cheap shot. |
He was just a little bit stronger off Turn 2. We just couldn't quite get it done. That was it, the best I could do. Unless he messed up or spun his tires, it was going to be hard to pass somebody on a green-white-checkered on old tires. I knew it was going to be tough. |
He was the one whining all week. He's worried about people's lives and everything then he wrecks you on purpose at 190. |
He's probably had more fun the last three or four or five years than he did the first couple of years I knew him. Mark's awesome. He's one of the best in the garage, and if you can get him the right stuff, he's going to be hard to beat. |
