At all of the events in Australia I can't think of one stage that is more daunting than the Mineshaft, it's one stage that really gets your heart racing! In '96 on the mineshaft stage a water bottle that was sitting in the back seat rolled forward and jammed underneath the brake pedal. I reckon I made one of the biggest leaps in history over the mineshaft! I think this year I'll make sure I wash some speed off first.
It's a great car to drive - great noise - but it's also hard work. There's no turbo- charger so it sounds like an old- fashioned rally car but there's also no power steering so that adds a degree of difficulty.
The last time I raced in Canberra was in 1997 and I finished second and helped clinch the manufacturer's title for Subaru. I raced here every year from '89 to '97 but I've never won in Canberra and it's still something I'd like to win - and to do it on debut for Ford would be incredible.
