Coach Meyer casts a large shadow on the game of college basketball in a positive light. He truly loved the game and the kids he coached. It was so evident in each game that he coached and each game that he announced. I love him. He served as a great example of what a coach should be. |
Did I throw it across? |
Don't jump to the conclusion that it's everything for just the low seed. It is everything for 65 teams. Each player and each team has a dream. |
Duke has always taken up my whole heart, |
Everyone was considered. It is obvious that we're not trying to put a collection of All-Stars together. |
Everyone was considered. It is obvious that we're not trying to put a collection of All-Stars together. The goal is to put together as good of a basketball team as we possibly can. I believe we've done that with this group of players. |
For a freshman to do that had an impact on our team. |
For J.J., really, records or whatever, he's not about that. I wouldn't have expected anything different from him. I didn't even know where (the record) was, that he needed one more three or whatever. We called one thing for him and he hit it, and then everyone screamed. I guess that was it. |
For me, this is the ultimate honor in coaching, |
For two freshmen to step up like that was big. Greg played like a veteran point guard today and Josh anchored us inside. |
Giving back what the game has given you, that's one of the things I want to permeate through the program for the next three years and serve as a basis for the team, ... I hope the players look at it that way, too. You forget how lucky you are to be in a specific situation sometimes. We need to get that feeling going again. |
Greg showed a great deal of toughness and resolve playing through the injury as a freshman. The surgery was a success and we look forward to a full recovery. Greg had a great year for us as a freshman despite the injury and we are anxious to have him back and at 100 percent. |
He can be as good as anybody. Next year, without injury over the summer he can be one of the best players in the country. That's my vision for him. |
He can erase mistakes. Offensively, he's a definite low-post threat. And because of their 3-point shooting, he's usually isolated there one-on-one. And with his length and width, he has a chance to score really well. ... [He's] a low-post presence both offensively and defensively. Every team would love to have that, and they do. |
He got going then, but that can't be how you start playing. We're not always going to draw plays for him to get dunks. |
