[Garner] talks a lot about how he does things just on gut feeling. And we just roll with it. |
A guy off the bench with that much talent is obviously one of our major weapons that we have. Every time Orlando is up to bat you're positive he's doing to put together a good at-bat. |
Absolutely we need to take notice of that, ... We need to make sure that we understand what we did, and we need to carry all the positives of that game over and build confidence. |
Adam Everett made some adjustments during spring training and has a much better approach at the plate. The guy's in a very difficult position a lot of times batting eight hole and is coming up with outstanding at-bats. Jason Lane hadn't been swinging it the way he'd like to and he starts crushing the ball. |
Because they know it's genuine, ... If it was something that looked like it was staged or premeditated, it wouldn't be anything. It's genuine when it happens. |
Brad, obviously, didn't want to take the loss. I think he was pretty happy when he saw that ball go over the fence. |
Brandon is an outstanding pitcher but he hasn't pitched. I know he's going to be out there and the guy is a great pitcher. I hope he can go out there and have really good starts for us. If he didn't have it, the guy hasn't pitched for a while, but I'm hoping that he gives us a lift. |

For a guy with limited experience in the league, this guy has really incredible poise. He's got savvy up on the mound. He has an idea of what he wants to throw. He knows his strengths. Just considering such a young pitcher with very little experience, he's very impressive. |
He has to do all my interviews (today) with my USC football shirt on, |
He's a big USC supporter, and we're very excited about it. |
He's had a tremendous season. These last two months, the guy's been just pitching great. Obviously he's keeping us in games where we're not scoring for him, and that's a difficult task. Last year was extremely frustrating for him, there's no two ways about it. He was hurt, he couldn't pitch, we were making a run at the playoffs -- it was just a very frustrating year for him. I'm very happy that he's doing well. |
Hitting is just something that goes in cycles. You have to believe that you're not going to stay in a rut for an extended period of time. Eventually, you need to turn it around. What needs to happen is we need to score runs. It just needs to be a collective effort. |
I can't imagine that Major League Baseball would want to [open the roof] because it takes an advantage away from us. One of the special things about playing here is how loud it gets. |
I definitely feel more comfortable when I know what to expect and I know what the program is. I'm very good with routines. That's not to say I can't make an adjustment if you move me in the lineup, but in general I know I'm going to bat third or fourth or fifth in the lineup, and it's nice to know what your role is. |
