I think most people at the university expected something like this. The concerns I think that linger have to do with the potential implications of the policy, and there are unanswered questions.
Our faculty in some ways is answerable to students. The problem, of course, is where do you draw the line. It's a fuzzy line, but there is a line.
We have a lot more students coming to St. Thomas who are interested and committed to their Catholic identity and are more vocal about it.
What makes this university Catholic is our ongoing struggle with our Catholic identity. I'm for that (struggle). I'm for arguing about this.
