If he couldn't throw, he wouldn't be the guy going in for us, |
If I didn't feel like he could handle the situation then he wouldn't be the guy that we would go with, |
If they can pick it up and do things, it will make everybody's job a lot easier. |
It comes across pretty well (on tape). You think there's a hole and you see them play Auburn and North Carolina and you think the guy might get 15 yards but he only gets about eight. They run to the ball very well. But that doesn't mean we can't move the ball. |
It was a work ethic that we saw. And then we also saw a guy that was able to come in and contribute for us in different ways. You try to reward guys when they do that. |
It was one of those days, where the wind and conditions weren't very good. It was a little sloppy, but the guys that have played understood their assignments. |
It was one of those days. With the wind and things like that, the conditions weren't very good. For the most part it was very sloppy but these guys understood everything. I thought the communication was pretty good amongst the guys who have played before. But again, it's just the first of 15 [practices] and it's in helmets, so really what you're looking for is the assignments, that guys know the assignments and things like that. It's a little bit different without having the pads. |
It's another evaluation process for us as coaches and that's the message that we'll convey to them. |
It's great to have Jon come back to the program. He did an outstanding when he was here before and, with his added experience, he will contribute even more to the program. His high level of familiarity will make the transition a very smooth one for all involved. |
It's happened before where all of a sudden you throw a guy in there and you didn't expect him to go in there and play and all of a sudden you forget about who your two quarterbacks were in a heartbeat. If that happens we're better off for it. |
It's just a matter of keeping him relaxed. He doesn't have to be Superman. He just needs to go out and execute all the plays that he's been working on this week. |
Jonathon has overcome quite a bit. It's [also] a credit to some people in his life who have taken an interest in him and wanted to help a young man who had a difficult upbringing. He's done well. He's fought through a lot of adversity. |
Lou made some really nice runs. Donald probably had his best day of the spring. Andre also had a good day. They all did some good things. They're guys that proved they can help us. I wouldn't be hesitant to put any of those four guys, plus Larry (Taylor), into a game. |
One good thing is I don?t give a (crap) about the statistics this week. |
One thing that Dennis can do is that he can do all the things we are going to want to do offensively in order to be as successful as we possibly can. I know that all the guys on the team have a tremendous amount of respect for him, they know that he has ability and they know that it's their job to make his job easier. |
