All we're doing is pushing the due date up. (Taxpayers) are not paying for four months extra. It's more of an accounting question than a monetary figure. |
I don't think four is too high or too low. It's where we deserve to be. My contention is that every roster looks unbelievable until you get the players in and see what they can do and how they jell together. |
I like the colors, |
I like to keep the actions of the kids as respectable as possible. We expect them to be clean-shaven and have their hair trimmed. Now, if I had a parent say, You can't tell my kid what to do,' but we get nothing but support. I get calls from parents thanking me for making their son shave. |
I never considered it, ever. When they asked me I didn't know what to say. It was a decision that had to come from my whole family. I was real happy as a high school coach. I love baseball and I kind of got to know (Kapanke and Goodell) a little bit. They must have followed my career closer than I thought. |
I want to have fun with it and do everything I can so La Crosse is successful. If it's not fun and if we're not successful, I'm at a stage in life where I can do something else. |
Jerry Augustine (former major league pitcher who is now head coach at UW-Milwaukee), I played with him, ... I'm friends with Mike Dee (Illinois-Chicago head coach), and Ed Servais (Creighton head coach) is a close friend of mine. |
That will be my biggest concern. How will they relate to my style? ... I will tell them what a wonderful opportunity this is for them. The first couple of days will be when impressions are made. |
These players will know even before they sign, the player handbook will state, that we have rules about no facial hair and their hair being trimmed. They have to be good role models for the kids in the stands. What (the Loggers' rules) show are good discipline and I think a lot of them will be happy that they have rules. |
