I think the weather you're seeing in Texas is very unusual. You would have to go back to the '50s to see the kind of dryness you're seeing. I don't think we've seen anything like this in a generation. |
If I had to categorize it, I would say the area of extreme fire conditions extend over a good portion of Texas and Oklahoma. Once we get into mid-February, the problem will probably widen into southern New Mexico and Arizona, but until then the focus will be concentrated on almost all of Oklahoma and most of Texas. |
What you need is not just one storm. You need a number of storms occurring over a month or two to really put a big dent in the fire season. |
You guys are obviously warmer than other places, but most importantly, Texas and Oklahoma have got the winds that can really make these fires go. |
