For whatever reason our offense hasn't come together yet, but our defense has been outstanding and that's probably the biggest reason we're 4-0. Only one opponent (Martha's Vineyard) has managed to score more than 50 points (51) and counting tonight, we're allowing an average of 42.5 points. When we can do that, I have to like our chances. |
I was a little leery on the bus ride to the state pier and I could tell most of the kids felt the same way because a lot of them, I'm sure, had never even been on a boat before. This wasn't exactly one of those picturesque days to go sailing. |
I was kind of surprised because the way the wind was blowing, I thought there would be some concern about the possibility of rough waters. |
Our game plan focused on stopping Motta. He managed to get 11 points, but holding him to three field goals is a tribute to our defense. We made him work hard and I couldn't be more pleased with our effort. |
That's the big difference between this year's team and last year's team. We've played a lot of close games the past two seasons. Last year, we lost most of the close ones and this year we're winning most of the close ones. |
This is a game we probably should have lost because, offensively, we did everything we could to try and lose it down the stretch. But for the fifth consecutive game the defense came up big and tonight it was Kyle (Cabral) who took center stage. |
We all know he's (Noonan) the player you have to stop and Kyle stepped up to the challenge. He was in his face all night and wasn't afraid to throw his body in front of him whenever he could. I thought he should have drawn a third charge on him but the officials called it a block. |
We must be doing something right and as long as we keep doing it, I'm not going to complain. |
