Employees know the benefits of drug-free workplace policies. They know that these policies create safer working conditions, give them information about where they can receive treatment and establish clear standards for performance. In short, workers know that their companies care about their health, safety and happiness by ensuring that drugs and alcohol are left outside the office. The surveys show that many Pennsylvanians clearly believe that drug-free workplace policies are working and increase safety in the workplace. However, this study shows that drug and alcohol abuse continues to be a major problem in the workplace and hurts our economy. More companies, especially small- to mid-sized companies, need to implement drug-free workplace programs to reduce drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace. |
