I'd say it's one of the greatest plays ever written, certainly ever written in English. I've always loved it, and leapt at the opportunity to direct it with this company. |
It's kind of the ultimate dysfunctional family. Lear wants to be told his daughters love him, and when he doesn't get it, he flips out and starts making a series of bad decisions. That's what gets the whole ball rolling. |
It's such a complex play with so much going on, very early on we realized the best way to tell a story this huge was to focus on very intimate relationships. |
