Our philosophy is to work the pitchers and get the counts. The bottom of the order is wearing pitchers down and we are getting a lot of productive outs. We are hitting rockets left and right in the infield. |
Our pitching is really coming around. They are starting to get comfortable. |
Right now I think our team knows that our soft spot is pitching. I think the kids know we've got injuries and different things going on so we're just trying to get back and it's hard. It's hard to come back from injuries and perform at 100 percent right away. When you're on the mound there is very little room for error. |
Right now the conference is just everywhere. I would like to win three every weekend if I could, but you've got to just take your wins where you get them. |
Shayne came out and hung one pitch and that's a fine line. They were fortunate enough to cash in their hits. |
She had a great day today. She had two good at bats before the seventh and created some good momentum for herself. |
She really carried us this weekend, it was real nice to see, I'm really happy for her. She has really worked on her hitting over the last month and has been a real contributor in our lineup. |
She rolled her ankle in the dugout, there was some pretty good swelling. We're sort of shortened on our staff right now. We'll make some adjustments. |
She was real solid. She gave us an opportunity to win. She made some pitches at times. |
She'll be fine. This is a mental game that you battle with. Tomorrow she might come out and get three hits. |
The benefit is that with Harvard being so close we can probably make up a game or maybe two at some point. The problem with Rhode Island is that, you know, it's an hour and 45 minutes [away]. So at least with Harvard we can decide last minute, probably in the morning, whether or not to play, and then probably make it up if we can't. |
The coaches were aware, but it was one of those things where you don't say a word about it. A huge groan came out of the dugout when she gave up that hit. |
The field is a smaller field and it just seems like every time you are here the wind blows out at about 20 miles an hour which makes routine fly balls go out of the park. |
The freshmen played great. They soaked up everything around them and took time to evaluate the other team. They played with a lot of swagger and hunger. |
They just happened to get one more run than we did. I was happy with the effort. |
