 The Lord called His minstrel in, and asked, Why have you come here? O Merciful God, please grant me the gift of continual meditation on the Lord's Name. And so the Lord, the Great Giver, inspired Nanak to chant the Lord's Name, and blessed him with robes of honor. |
| The Lord God has made servant Nanak perfect; he is not diminished by even the tiniest particle. |
| The Lord has assigned one task to me; as it pleases Him, I perform it. |
| The Lord has become merciful, and now I meditate on the Name of the Lord. Servant Nanak has obtained the sublime essence of the Lord. |
