We're not a well-oiled running machine by any means right now. It wasn't very pretty for our offense. Hopefully we'll learn from it and go on. We did practice well this week. But right now we practice better than we play the game.

We're not getting rid of anybody. We are readjusting the defensive coach and we are going to hire a defensive line coach.

We're not in the upper echelon by any means. We've got to scrape and claw for any victories we can get. I think our guys know we've got to play well. We don't have to play perfectly, but we need to play well to beat these guys.

We're not where we hoped we'd be, but we've still got a lot of season left, ... We're not discouraged. We're disappointed that we haven't improved as we've gone thus far.

We're probably going to give him a game ball come Wednesday when the team gets together. Bernard made tackles all over the place and was hustling around, playing his assignments probably as well as anybody on the team.

We're to the point, ... where if it's a close game late, something good is going to happen for our side.

We're trying to get Blake quicker, quicker, quicker. He needs to get rid of the ball quicker. His throwing motion needs to be quicker. His decision-making needs to be quicker. Other than that, he's ready.

We're trying to make it a positive, ... We're trying to tell them . . . it's a big game for us. This is not just another game. This is a big game because we're in the national spotlight. We appreciate this opportunity, and let's take advantage of it. Let's try to show some high school kids out there what Carolina football is all about.

We're very proud of the effort of our players. The effort was there. It was the little things here and there that made us a loser. We're just not sharp enough right now to beat a good team. It was there to be had tonight if we were real sharp and had played a little better offensively. Holding them to 17 points should be good enough to win a conference game.

We've got area's where we think the freshmen are going to play. Don't want to name them but we've got to wait until they get here and see how fast they can learn.

We've got some building to do. You guys know football as well as I do,
|
We've got to get Blake going,
|
We've got to slow him down some. He looks like those linebackers that play at Georgia and Tennessee.
|
We've got to work on signaling from me or the sideline to the quarterback. We're way behind on that. We need a good two weeks of communication teaching before we're ready to play.

We've had teams that want to come visit us, and what we say is we'll provide some tape. You can come and watch tape. But as coaches, we don't sit down and go over every detail with them. I think that's the way it should be almost everywhere.
