I used everything today, which was good. I got to pitch like I was in game situations, first-pitch changeups and back-to-back breaking balls. |
I want to get ready for Friday or Saturday, Saturday would be optimum. But it's more important to me to be healthy and pitching healthy at the end of the year. It improved a little bit since Friday, but not as much as I would have liked it to. |
I was finally able to get the curve ball over for strikes, ... I wasn't able to do that my last two starts. |
I would have liked my curveball to be a little sharper. I've been working on it this spring. The location of my fastball is good and that is my number one priority. |
I would imagine their legs were getting stiff, ... It seemed like that one inning took an hour. There wasn't one time when I needed to make a key pitch that I did. |
I wouldn't want to be pitching against this lineup right now. |
I'd still like better results than there were (yesterday) but the main thing is we hung on and we won and that's nice, |
I'm optimistic about it and I'm going to do whatever I can to be able to make that [first start]. It's more important that I'm healthy the remainder of the year than make a start here early. But if I can, that's what I'm going to do. |
I'm sitting on the bench between innings and it's almost a surprise when we don't get two or three guys on and score some runs. |
It was a check-up. Nothing special. It was scheduled. I'm fine. |
It was better than it has been. |
It was just a mistake to a good hitter. It was a fastball low in the middle and I'm trying to go in there. If I locate that pitch, I got a good chance of getting a good result. I didn't execute that pitch. |
It was nice to go out there and feel completely healthy, to pitch decently, |
It's early. Ideally in a perfect world you want five starters to make 35 starts, but that seldom happens. |
It's kind of nice coming into camp and doing everything the rest of the group is doing. I started throwing a little bit sooner to get myself ahead and better prepared to come in. |
