The guy who won the Pearl Drums drum-off was a 15-year-old kid from right here in this neighborhood. And that was some serious competition, too.
We had to cancel the cooking contest because several of the teams were from Mississippi and had family complications because of Hurricane Katrina. Another had a death in the family. There were just too many complications, but we'll give that part of the event an honest shot next year.
