The sheer length of the holes is the biggest change I've seen. With that as well as the rough -- sorry, first cut [Augusta National officials do not refer to the longer grass as rough] - it's certainly been eye-opening for all of us. Now the premium is on tee shots as well as second shots and I think it's been a positive change. |
The South Course, you'd better have the ball-striking up there. It's just that some of these pins now, they are so close to the edges, you have to be pretty precise. If you do miss it, you're going to pay the price, and I think good ball strikers are going to do well here. |
The success I've had on Sundays, whether that plays into their minds, I don't know. |
The thing is, you see all the money that's available out there. I see where am I going to play. I have no place to play yet. I'm not exempt. I have no security. So if I don't turn pro and I don't make it out here, where am I going to go? Nike? Hooters? Asia? Anywhere but here, I guess. |
The things I've been working on all summer long are starting to come together, |
The times I looked at the board, neither one of us were up there. We weren't leading. I knew 7 (under) was leading, so try to get up there somehow. |
The way he plays and the way he plods along, I think he's got the greatest chance. |
The way Phil's playing, ... it's going to be hard for myself or anyone else over par to catch him. |
The wind is all over the place and changing all the time. In Amen Corner, 11 and 12, it's coming from all directions. You just hope you can guess right. It's frustrating. You make a good swing and it can switch in a heartbeat. |
The wind is all over the place, changing all the time. Hopefully you can guess it right, hit it at the right time and get a good result. A good shot could end up in a bad spot and you just have to accept the consequences. |
The wind is blowing, swirling in the trees. On top of that, the greens are really inconsistent out there because the low spots are soft, the high spots are really firm. It depends on where you land it. |
The winds just came up out of nowhere in the afternoon. It's playing very difficult. But you just have to accept the consequences and move on. |
Their team is certainly going to miss him, ... He's one of the stalwarts, one of the leaders. It's hard to believe. |
There are a lot of distractions out there, certainly. A lot of people had mobile phones, taking pictures ... a lot of distractions to deal with, ... My playing partners and I have to play through that some times. You've got to block it out as much as you can. |
There are certain events that are probably not going to get the featured players, ... Unfortunately, it's just the way it works out. |
