When we were taking the carts back to the tee, ... I couldn't hear anything. In my left ear, I'm half deaf, people whistling and screaming, and then my right ear, I'm half deaf. It was electric, it was loud, people were really into it. J. D. brings huge galleries everywhere he goes. |
When you hit the ball in a divot, usually you have some type of play, and I actually had no play because I was on the back side of a divot. Somebody took a pretty good divot there. |
When you play (17) on Tuesday and Wednesday, it's a pretty easy hole, a little flip 9-iron, no big deal. You get out there in the tournament, all of a sudden there's a pin location that's tucked in the corner or over a slope, and the green seems to shrink up a little bit. You know you've got to step up there and be committed. |
When you're out there playing, you're playing. When you're away from the course, obviously, things are a little bit different. But when you're on the course, you're playing, you're grinding. |
Where am I at? I don't even know where I'm at, |
Whether it's a good day or a bad day, your opponent is right there in front of you. It's not like you're trying to build for Sunday. . . . This is, you better bring it right now. |
Why? I can think of a million reasons. |
Winning 11 in a row ... do you realize how good you have to play? |
With [the course] softened up, anything can happen real quick. I kept some momentum going and I'm right in the ball game. |
With Jack being the legend he is in the game of golf and obviously retiring from the game competitively, ... it just makes it that much more enjoyable to come out here and play for him. We did the same thing for [Ken] Venturi [in 2000] and just had ourselves a blast, and hopefully we can do the same thing this week and play as well. |
With the wind picking up, it should be quite an interesting afternoon. |
Without getting too technical, what I try to do is swing on the angle of the club shaft at address, ... For me, that's a consistent swing plane that matches my arms and body. It takes timing out of the equation. |
Without rain last year, we were thinking in the practice rounds that over-par was going to win. If you could keep it around even par you would win easily. This year, if it stays dry, probably same thing. |
Wow, that was ugly, |
Yeah, I've got my little senior club in there. |
