Historically, Lowell has fought for workers' rights and social justice. It seems an especially appropriate place to hold a festival that believes in spreading worker's rights worldwide. It's also just a friendly place where you can come and have a great time. It's a good fit in a lot of different ways. |
Without meaning to, a lot of more specialized festivals will create barriers that separate people rather than bring them together. So we didn't just go for traditional music, but also brought in hot new modern stuff and electronic/world fusion stuff and just about anything with some depth that will make people move and dance, because when people move and dance, they become one. |
You're basically seeing a $50 all-day show for $5. That isn't a bad way to kick off Labor Day weekend. |
