I cannot say enough about the importance of the research and support of the March of Dimes. Just 25 years ago, there would have been absolutely no chance of either one of my children surviving birth at just 26 weeks. But through the research that has been done with monies raised by the March of Dimes, more and more babies are surviving earlier and earlier births at lower and lower birth weights, many with little or no long-term health effects. |
Pregnant for the first time, I knew little about pre-term babies, and I purposefully skipped over those sections in the pregnancy books, certain that it would never happen to me. But life proved differently, when at 26 ½ weeks, I went into labor. My husband and I were totally unprepared for the journey that lay ahead of us. |
