 And when he had attained his maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge: and thus do We reward those who do good. |
| And when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes and He made you to appear little in their eyes, in order that Allah might bring about a matter which was to be done, and to Allah are all affairs returned. |
| And when his Lord tried Ibrahim with certain words, he fulfilled them. He said: Surely I will make you an Imam of men. Ibrahim said: And of my offspring? My covenant does not include the unjust, said He. |
| And when I revealed to the disciples, saying, Believe in Me and My apostle, they said: We believe and bear witness that we submit (ourselves). |
| And when Ibrahim and Ismail raised the foundations of the House: Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing: / Our Lord! and make us both submissive to Thee and (raise) from our offspring a nation submitting to Thee, and show us our ways of devotion and turn to us (mercifully), surely Thou art the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful. |
| And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship, / Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me. |
| And when Ibrahim said to his sire, Azar: Do you take idols for gods? Surely I see you and your people in manifest error. |
| And when Ibrahim said: My Lord, make it a secure town and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the last day. He said: And whoever disbelieves, I will grant him enjoyment for a short while, then I will drive him to the chastisement of the fire; and it is an evil destination. |
| And when it is recited to them they say: We believe in it surely it is the truth from our Lord; surely we were submitters before this. |
| And when it is said to them, Believe in what Allah has revealed, they say: We believe in that which was revealed to us; and they deny what is besides that, while it is the truth verifying that which they have. Say: Why then did you kill Allah's Prophets before if you were indeed believers? / And most certainly Musa came to you with clear arguments, then you took the calf (for a god) in his absence and you were unjust. |
| And when it is said to them, Do not make mischief in the land, they say: We are but peace-makers. |
| And when it is said to them, Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay! we follow what we found our fathers upon. What! and though their fathers had no sense at all, nor did they follow the right way. |
| And when it is said to them, what is it that your Lord has revealed? They say: Stories of the ancients; / That they may bear their burdens entirely on the day of resurrection and also of the burdens of those whom they lead astray without knowledge; now surely evil is what they bear. |
| And when it is said to them: Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Apostle, you will see the hypocrites turning away from you with (utter) aversion. |
| And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. |
