He's a different presence. There's no question that without him, they didn't go inside as much. He gives them a low-block presence. He's more of a go-to guy as far as inside down the stretch. Defensively, he's a shot blocker. It just gives them more bodies up front. |
He's a great player. He's been a winner from the day he got here. The guys know that. They can sense it. It carries over with his competitiveness. The guys are watching, and I think Carl enjoys it. He relishes it. He's proud of what he's done here, and he should be. |
He's a little more relaxed (this season), I think. I think he feels like he can give us energy off the bench. And obviously, if he shoots the ball, that's a bonus. He's a good defender. We'd like him to rebound a little bit more, but he's helping us a lot right now. |
He's a pretty disciplined at staying in the pocket, ... He'd rather move up than sprint out and in to trouble. He's starting to grasp the offense fairly well and looks like a playmaker. If something's not available downfield, he won't get greedy and force the issue. |
He's already told me some things. I would just say this: When we meet, frank discussion between owner and coach is always valuable. I welcome anything he has to say and I will reciprocate with anything I think is necessary going forward to make us who we want to be. |
He's an unusual politician, and he's certainly proving it here today by putting the city's long-term interests ahead of short-term political gain. I can't think of any criticisms right now because I am so struck by what an unusual and prudent thing that it is to do. |
He's coached in a lot of different places and tinkered with a lot of different ideas, but I've kept the same practice format that I learned from him for 14 years here, ... I guess he's gone the full cycle. He's always been very open-minded. He's receptive to change. |
He's cool. He's having a good time. He just really told people a lot more with this last start than we learned since he came over from Colorado. Obviously, we needed every bit of it. Now we can reunite with Moose again because we haven't seen him in about five days. |
He's done everything he can do. He can't vote for himself. He's already set himself up with the numbers, the whole package. [Tonight was] another impressive night, shutting down another team. He just keeps on. A few runs here and there and he'd have an easy 20 wins. |
He's going to have nerves -- that's natural. Hank Aaron told me when I came up, 'It's natural to be nervous. Just don't be scared.' You wouldn't be human if you weren't nervous. But after you throw that first pitch or two, your nerves subside and it's the same game. |
He's got all the talent in the world, but how you play, eventually they're gonna catch up with you. And right now he can get by on his ability. And he needs to keep working hard. And he works hard, but he needs to work a little harder, and get more serious about it. |
He's got all the tools in the world and all the skill in the world, it's just a matter of whether he's going to be happy being there. From a personal standpoint, you hope he likes it and he enjoys it and he plays well, but Sergei is Sergei and we'll see how it goes. |
He's had a lot of success. He's proved he can play at a high level. He's also seen the good and the bad - he's been through that. He's a guy that's going to support Donovan, and if needed, to play. He'll go in and play well, and bank on all the experiences he's had. |
He's hit some peaks and valleys with his arm. Sometimes he feels good where he's gotten over that point, and then sometimes it's gotten to the point where he has a little bit of a setback. But I think overall, he's getting really close to being where he wants to be. |
He's not getting the pitches we thought he would. He threw one-third of an inning last time. He was going to be a starter that [second round], which would get him to the pitch counts that we're comfortable with. It hasn't happened, other than the first time, so far. |
