What happens on the field is its own world. The stuff those people are dealing with is their lives in the real world. They're separate worlds. We're trying to do everything we can to help those people who have been displaced. Some of them are right here in Charlotte. But when it comes to football, we've got to be ready to play. |
What I came away with last week was a very strong sense that the kids had been marooned up there. They're in a place where opportunities continue to shrink and were going to continue to shrink and that creates a frame of reference for what it is possible to achieve. It begins to lower the standards of expectation for your life. |
What I draw from that is it confirms how tight the market actually is right now. To us, the big picture is we are in a situation globally and here in the U.S. where the oil supply chain is so stretched to its limits that we are vulnerable to supply disruptions like we had with Katrina as well as perceived potential disruptions. |
What I'm worried about is what's out here on the floor. That's all I'm worried about. Everybody has to perform out here on the floor, and we have to perform it a certain way. Not that my way is right. There are a lot of different ways to play basketball. But we have to have a little bit of order. Otherwise, I've got a cesspool. |

What those Social Security cash flows are being used to do today is to pay down federal debt. If the government chooses to not use those trust fund dollars, if they do end up with a shortfall, then what they'll do is go into the public market, and sell debt to raise cash, and use the Social Security money to pay off other debt, |

What's amazing about this is, we were able to do in four months what would normally take 12. We managed to fast-track the process to be where we are today because there was a tremendous amount of cooperation between a lot of people who wanted to make this happen. I see that cooperation continuing now that we have the game here. |
When I first got here, he was coming off the injury and being hurt every year and hearing all the things about himself, so yeah, his confidence was a little bit down. But it's back up there, and he knows he's having a good year. I think if you ask any team we've played, he's the first guy on our defense that they would mention. |
When I had it done in 1974, I didn't think it would be the epidemic it is right now. It's absolutely inexcusable. Personally I think it borders on child abuse. You get a parent that sees a kid that has pretty good ability and will hire coaches. They'll train year-round and then they'll wonder why their arm goes at 13 years old. |
When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. |
When it came down to the last few games in district we had to win to make the playoffs and the kids stepped up and got it done. They stepped up again Tuesday night in a playoff atmosphere. Our seniors have dreamed about playing at the nice facility at Lee College. It's nice to see them accomplish that and play the way they did. |
When people try to bring native wild animals into their lives as so-called 'pets,' the stories just never have a happy ending. People don't realize how hard it is to properly care for a wild animal. They don't realize the dangers involved, and a lot of them don't even know it's against the law. Bad things always seem to happen. |
When that final buzzer went off, that was just pure joy, indescribable joy. It just overwhelmed me. I looked at my father, he was smiling, crying. My mother, they were all crying. It was like a dream come true. I used to dream about that when I was a little kid, in front of my hometown, home fans, my family, it's indescribable. |
