I personally think it has a lot to do with Jeff Gordon and what he's done here over the years. He's really been strong at this track with his setup. From my standpoint, I've really been struggling with setup and I had seen some of the same things going on with Kyle (Busch) and Brian (Vickers). He's great, he's been so generous to share what it takes to get around here. |
I really didn't see it as overshadowing me, ... He's been in the league so long. He's earned his stripes. I was a young cat coming up, doing the things I had to do to earn my stripes. I made my plays. As the years moved on, I earned my stripes. The fans knew who I was when I stepped on the field. When you play next to Ray, you have to do a lot of things to get noticed. |

I think it just shows the strength and popularity of the Derby at this point. A few weeks ago our list of horses we thought were possible or probable seemed to be shrinking a bit. But when we got the last round of major preps, the list started growing again -- even though two horses (Brother Derek and Lawyer Ron) you'd regard as the favorites scored emphatic victories. |
I think it's great. We've done it every year since the conference began and I think that says a lot about the program and the players. It's not easy and every year everybody is going for you. We take it one game at a time and don't get too far ahead of ourselves. Now we're getting close to the playoffs and we still have a big weekend ahead of us with Colby and Bowdoin. |
I think it's important that you know where I stand, what I believe and what may happen before I'm elected, not after you elect me. I propose that we fix the (budget) problem with an equitable mix of budget cuts, restructuring the city pension plan, and if necessary -- and only as a last resort -- I might ask the voters to consider a sales tax increase of one-half cent. |
I think it's really good. When you only have one, then all the buyers seem to go to that one horse. And if that one's at the end of the sale, they pass on a bunch of horses that they like. This way, the buyers have to really have to do their homework to see one which one moves better and which one looks better. They look at the horses in every barn, all the way around. |
I think Renteria always has been one of the premier defensive players, plus we also talk about his clutch hitting. We were concerned about his back a little and he's had some weight problems sometimes. But the minute he was available, we hopped on it. It took the front office about three days to get Renteria ... but we had to do what it took to get him. He's that good. |
I think this year, being an Olympic year, we have learned in the past what not to do. Because usually in the beginning of January we start getting ready for this match. And that's just too late. Yes, everybody needs a break at the end of the year. November, December there's a lot of holidays, nobody wants to shoot. But we actually shot all through the end of last year. |
I think we could re-write the book a little bit. The other sort of traditional way of looking at the market is that you get a summer rally. And I suspect that we will get a positive bias to this market at some point in time over the next couple of months. However, I do think that you're probably in that quieter period for news and developments in the technology sector. |
I think we need to fix some things within the staff and the athletes, ... I think we should take a lesson from the French and the British who have basically gotten the stick around and got it around safely. That's all we need to do. That's all we had to do: get the stick around safely and we'd be in the finals. There's no way that we should not have been in the finals. |
I thought we looked very sharp and started the game very quickly. We did a good job of forcing the issue and creating opportunities and we found ourselves up by three goals early. If I had to say there was one thing I feel we need to learn from this match, it is how to play with a lead. We weren't as sharp in the second half and didn't quite force our flow to the game. |
I took the overreaching arc I was headed toward in the TV show and made that the plot of the movie, ... I had to jettison or streamline plenty of things. It's two totally different mediums, and you've got to respect that. A TV show can kind of meander its way along and find a little piece of something for everybody. A movie is more about the momentum of the main story. |

I was really pleased with our first half. The belly play was good to us and they couldn't stop our fullback in the first half with Mitch and Josh. That's where we had Harrell in the second half. I'm disappointed we didn't score on our second series after we got first-and-goal, but I started improvising and sort of got cute. I should have stayed with what we were doing. |
