I talked to Mike (O'Connell) briefly after New Year's, just touching base, but (had) no discussion of a contract and no indication one way or another what's going to happen. Our doors are open. If they want to talk, we'll talk. But we're not asking. I think there are other things on his mind right now besides doing deals. The indications were that he's going to get back to me. We'll talk at some point, I think. But there's been no request or proposals back and forth. |
I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end. |
I think that what it says is from an external point of view, from a national stage, we're being recognized for excellence in what we're doing. When I first came on board with the CU College of Music in fall of 1999, one of the things I had hoped to see was some recognition at some point from these national awards. And for us to have had the 13 in five years has exceeded my expectations, but I think clearly represents the great work the students and faculty are doing. |
I think when you can limit the amount of transactions, ... get some camaraderie in the clubhouse, I think anybody who has seen us in the first half and the second half can tell we're having a lot more fun. We brought in some guys who added some excitement and some enthusiasm. And we're still learning. ... For us I just think it's a matter of having something to prove and having some fun with it. The results show and it's fun to be a part of this team the second half. |
I thought about staying for probably two or three seconds after they hired Marvin Lewis , ... But the biggest thing to me is that they're not just a coach away from winning. They're not like one or two players away. It's something that's going to take a process, and that process will take three or four years. And three or four years to me is my eighth and ninth years in the league. Who knows? I may not even be playing at that point. I didn't want to take that chance. |
I was just upset because they were so unprofessional to me. For us to be in financial ruins in this city and for somebody to arbitrarily change their minds is ridiculous. We were going to employ 100 security detail. They issued me a preliminary contract; we could've done something legally. I was very disappointed. They have one of the biggest venues in the city that is probably going to sit dark [on] one of the biggest weekends that Detroit will have for a long time. |
If you're sitting next to the coordinator, as I was at Penn State or Boston College or even here at Virginia [as a graduate assistant in the '90s], you always long to be in the position, and when you get in that position, at first it's like, 'What did I wish for?' All of the sudden the world's coming down on you. You're 108th in [rushing] defense, and you're getting e-mails from people. But at that point, you believe in yourself and believe in the guys you work with. |
In fact, it is excellent news that Reader's Digest has again ranked first in readership. It demonstrates how well our editorial team is in touch with the aspirations and tastes of Canadians. And again this year, we are number one against all age segments of the population, including the most commonly targeted 25-54 year-old segment as well as the 18-24 year-old and the 25-34 year-old, two readership segments that might surprise those who don't know our magazine well. |
In fiscal 2007, we anticipate gross capital expenditures of approximately $300 million. Planned expenditures primarily relate to new store construction and land purchases associated with future year store openings. Compared with the roughly $200 million of spending in fiscal 2006, the fiscal 2007 capital spending estimate primarily reflects a higher level of real estate purchases for store development in future years, as well as the timing of construction activities. |
It [the tax bill] gives the bulk of the benefits to the top five percent of taxpayers. Given the history of the last 10 years, when people at the top have done very well, people in the middle and at the bottom are struggling. This tax bill needed to go to people in the middle and people trying to get in the middle. It's a fundamental mistake and I don't care if I'm the only one saying this. I'm going to say what I believe in and what's in my heart. ... Meet the Press |
It is important to remember that it was indifference that allowed the Holocaust to happen and it was the indifference that allowed the Rwanda Genocide. And it is gross indifference that has allowed and continues to allow this preventable disease to take the lives of millions. In my mind there is no reason why we shouldn't care about those infected or affected with HIV/AIDS whether they are in Africa or down the street from us. They are all human beings, just like us. |
It is not enough for the commonwealth to establish a probability, even a strong probability. That is not enough...(prosecution) must present evidence which convinces the court of the defendant's guilt to a reasonable and moral certainty, a certainty that convinces the court's understanding, ... After careful and thorough consideration of the applicable law, and calm, dispassionate and careful consideration of all the evidence...I find (Constantine Pitsas) not guilty. |
It was a Herculean task this morning that we accomplished with the cooperation of Mr. Benson and the commissioner, and I have to commend LSU for their efforts, ... As you know, they are dealing with many, many logistical issues here. No doubt every person in that room was sensitive to not having a negative influence on the recovery. But it was also the sentiment that the Saints need to be a part of our rebuilding initiative. We made the best of a difficult situation. |
It was a tough run and we tried really hard. The track changed a little bit from the morning to the afternoon which was a little bit to our favour. We tried something in the beginning of the top-six qualifying and it didn't work, and we had to stop right away. We used the tyres up and the track was better. At the end of the day, I don't think we would have been able to catch Ryan. He did a good job. Now we look forward to the race tomorrow and hopefully will do well. |
It was very tricky at the beginning of the race, but I made a good first lap and gained many positions. It was an exciting first stint and things were going well up to the first stop. The incident with Michael happened on the first corner after the restart, following the safety car. With cold tyres and brakes, it was very difficult to stop the car and unfortunately, I touched the back of him. Obviously, I am disappointed that we could not deliver a good result today. |
