Historically, the parent and child relationship is a complicated one on many levels--particularly as parents become ill and their roles reverse. This transition is understandably wrought with stress as the parent gradually, and often reluctantly, relinquishes power to the child. The perceptions of both regarding the parent's ability to manage on their own and of what it takes to get various tasks done are bound to differ. It's inevitable--the discrepancies bear this out. |
I could rant and rave about a lot of things. I could rant and rave about the man in the middle. I could rant and rave about the unsportsmanlike behavior of (Glen) for most of the game. I could certainly rant and rave about the schedule which forced us to play Wednesday night and again on Friday and on a rainy, knee deep field. There's all sorts of physiological reasons, but the bottom line is we didn't play well enough early enough in order to go and get that first goal. |
I play the sheriff of a small town in Pueblo, N.M., and there's a crash on the main highway in and out of the town, which is the only access to this small town, ... I arrive at the crash site to investigate what's happened, and I find something that looks like a small crab leg. I bring it to Nodin [Tonantzin Carmel of Into the West ], our DNA specialist, and she doesn't know what it is, other than that it's an unknown organic lifeform like nothing she's ever seen before. |
I represent the American taxpayer also and I just share that with you to say that it's terribly important, terribly important that the good people of Louisiana, have a plan that is transparent, that is detailed, that is separated from the political winds, that will be administered for oversight, anybody looking at it can question, what's happening and that integrity just gushes from that plan, terribly important. It's a lot of money that the taxpayers are bringing forth. |
I think U.S. citizens are trained at a young age to fully inhale the system, the rhetoric and ideologies surrounding democracy, capitalism, religion, family life...If the wizard is exposed, and we realize we’ve been lied to, it’s frightening, like political vertigo or instantaneous sobriety. After all, once you’ve seen the light, there’s no going back and, at that point, whether you like it or not, you are accountable to truth and responsible for creating change. |
I thought we got some stops. I thought the steal by Jalen (Rose) to get a three-point play ? I think we were down eight with six and a half (or) seven minutes to go, I can?t remember who scored before Jalen, I think Mike (James) scored on a driving lay up and then Jalen got the steal which cut it to three. We got some good plays, we got to the free throw line but we got some stops. We forced them into some tough shots and it?s just good to get a win at home for a change. |
I was very nervous. When I first met him and walked up to him, everyone was telling me to be sure and stay in character so he can enjoy it, and I got up to him and I froze. I patted him on the shoulder and I said, 'God bless you, Mr. Knotts.' But we talked and he was very kind. We got our picture made and I got an autograph. He was a real gentleman, very cordial, very humble. I was very sad when I heard he had passed away. I always dreaded that day, because he's my hero. |
I'm really pleased. I'm mostly pleased with their determination. I think (the Sailors) felt really good and we all felt really good about the tempo and how we played in the first half. We came out in the second half and made a couple of bad plays and St. Pat's turned those into transition baskets. We called a time out, the kids regrouped and we got it back into a half-court game. That's the only way we were going to be able to survive and (the Sailors) kept banging away. |
I've learned a lot about the consistency of being in a championship race, about getting a good finish every time while still trying to get faster every race. One of the things that Peter told me was that you could be in seventh and could go for sixth by really trying to stick [the car] in there. But if you get booted out, then that's a whole bunch of points you lose out on by finishing 14th or 15th. Those places are a lot worse than seventh. You have to think about that. |
If our colleagues decide that they want to extend a trial for some determining votes to two weeks or three weeks, that is okay, ... But I think the critical turning point is do you start to go to witnesses? Which mean everyone will want to cross examine, call more witnesses. This could not only go on for months, making it hard for us to do our work this year, but it probably will descend into the kind of partisan division that we saw in the House impeachment proceedings. |
In the face of it, it feels in some ways like financiers appetites for risk, whether they be equity or foreign sales based or North American distributors, have gotten even smaller. ... And there are some of our early movies [in which] I wonder how the hell we'd get them made today, and somehow we do. The biggest challenge is that they are execution dependent -- in order for them to work they have to be great and they have to be made as well as you can possibly make them. |
In this day and age, it's hard to determine what's a low-probability event, given what we've seen over the past years. When you see all the issues that have occurred, such as war and natural disasters, the tsunami and all the rest—those were all low-probability, but they happened. I think our whole concept of recognizing what are low-probability and high-impact events has substantially changed. The universe of what can happen is much larger. We've had our minds opened. |

It is extremely important for you to believe in yourselves not only for what you are now but for what you have the power to become. Trust in the Lord as He leads you along. He has things for you to do that you won't know about now but that will unfold later. If you stay close to Him, You will have some great adventures. You will live in a time where instead of sometimes being fulfilled, many of them will actually be fulfilled. The Lord will unfold your future bit by bit. |
It is particularly troubling that the official who conducted these inspections and issued the orders is conveniently on vacation when the information became public. The Butte plant has been left in limbo, not knowing whether business can be conducted or not while the FSIS official in charge is on vacation. Meanwhile, Montana's 4-H program has been a casualty of the agency's actions. MCA will work feverishly to obtain the answers as to why USDA has undertaken this action. |
