 I was patiently waiting, ... I just try to stay focused. I was definitely taking my starter's mentality into every week. That was the No. 1 thing.

 We had way too many turnovers last week. That's something we focused on this week. Our offense is getting better every day but it's still a young group. Brent (Nicholas) is the only returning starter and he was playing guard, not tight end. So it's basically 11 new people. We're starting from scratch. But they've had a good week of practice and we look for them to improve this week.

 It's such a competitive league that you can't turn it on and off like a switch. You want to stay on top, stay in playoff mode and stay in high gear. You don't want to have to get up again after taking a week or week-and-a-half off.

 We're taking it one game at a time. The big thing is to play as a team and to stay focused. We don't look too far ahead.

 [Now it is the Giants' turn to play the 49ers, Sunday in San Francisco.] We got to stay focused week in and week out, ... That's been our problem right now. Have a good week one week, the next week we kind of drop off.

 I think the thing I'm most pleased with is that we've been methodical, and she's been methodically going through it, through the setup changes and been very focused, ... I left her a phone message this morning.  The big point of the combine is the mental toughness, keeping yourself focused. You spend a lot of time waiting and a lot of time doing stuff you really don't want to do. But you've just got to stay focused and impress as many people as you can.

 I think the main thing you have to remember when going into the post-season is to stay relaxed. All of the energy and excitement can be overwhelming but the thing I'll try to relay to the younger players is just stay calm and focused.

 It's a long 20 laps. I try to stay focused and talk to myself a lot. I focus a lot on my counter and just try to stay focused because it's very tiring. So staying focused is a big part of the race.

 Regardless of how your body is feeling, you have to stay focused. Coach Self keeps us focused. We keep getting better. That's one thing, I think, the freshmen have done throughout the season.

We just hope things do turn out positively.

 If they can keep improving week in and week out, they're going to have a fun year. If they go out, make mental mistakes and not stay focused, it can be an ugly night.
