 I'm all in favor of it. It's good for guys to get a day off, especially later in the season. I think you come to the park fresher.

 So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

 The whole season has been disappointing, but I am proud of the way guys hung in there and fought. I know that guys came to play tonight and it was unfortunate that things didn't work out in our favor.

 Some teams want a pitchers' park and some teams want a hitters' park. That's not the case in St. Louis. ... It's a fair playing field. It doesn't favor either pitcher or batter. Frankly, that's a carryover from what old Busch Stadium had.

 We had a better pass rush than we have had in the past because guys were fresher. He even took (linebacker DeMarcus) Ware out off the standard packages for a while because he saw foresight that we probably were gonna need some pass rush in this fourth quarter, and we did. Guys up front had some good rushes and I think that aided us in our win.

 It's a good park to hit in, a very fair park, ... I still don't have anything bad to say about Petco. It's a beautiful place. But the numbers don't lie. Guys used to hitting 30-35 homers are hitting 15-20. Do the math.

 I'd contribute that to our bench. Our bench did a good job, as it had all season. His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. That helped us be fresher at the end.

 It was like someone just turned on the lights. My legs were heavy and it took me a long time to get used to the balls. But I kept feeling fresher and fresher as the game progressed.

 A lot of good things have come out of this season. We've grown a lot, guys have matured. There's definitely a positive outlook for next season. This game is very important. Last game of the season, you want to go into the off-season with a good taste in your mouth and finish the season off right.

 Now we have to rethink that because they are a lot fresher then we expected them to be at the end of the season.

 We are in favor of good schools, we are in favor of well-funded schools, but we think there is a better way. We are in favor of a long-term solution, and, yes, it needs to come from the state and, yes, it needs to come from the school districts.

 Our guys were worn out. It just seemed they were a little fresher than we were.

 We're going to do whatever we need to do, whether it's to park a guy for a week or park a guy for nine weeks [the remainder of this season]. We're going to do whatever we need to do to prevent retaliation on the racetrack.

 Playing all the girls we play ... sometimes we might take our lumps here and there early in the game, but late in the game, we always feel like we're going to have the fresher legs and fresher bodies. That's why they call it a team sport, because everybody contributes.

 They can't leave me out there. I'll lose the game, ... We have guys out there that are fresher.
