 You look at the hockey team that Jackson had. You never would have thought hockey would have been received at all in this state, but it was well received. It's going to take somebody to understand that you may take some losses the first couple years and you're not going to make money and that it's just an investment to try to build something.  They sold 1,000 tickets, and we only have 3,000 people in the town. So it means a third of our town-plus is down there today.

 Where I came from before [Wilmington] is a great place, but we were just overwhelmed by the ACC. We're not overwhelmed by anybody here. We are the team that people in this town support. There is basketball tradition and history and knowledgeable fans that have consistently bought season tickets and come to games and come to functions.

 Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

 We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

 We thought this would be the best time to do it. You also have the Winter Warm-Up next weekend (Jan. 14-16), and there are a lot of players that are going to be in town. A lot of our fans are in town, and there's just a lot of buzz about baseball. A lot of the guys will be at the Warm-Up, and then they'll be at our show, too. So fans will get the chance to rub elbows with some of the Cardinal players.

 There's such great hockey in the New York area that it's baffling steps have never been taken before to build a program. The town of Syracuse is very much a hockey town and it just seems like an easy fit.

 Dallas is not only a great sports town, it has become a great hockey town.

 I didn't anticipate anything — I was just showing up and seeing what the town and people were about, but it was a very welcoming sight. I'm sure the energy and excitement in town are going to rub off on the players. It's nice to see everybody's so excited about getting hockey started.

 As somebody who has owned season tickets since Day 1, there was that curious, kind of quizzical 'hockey's back' feeling when [the Thrashers] first came to town, ... Now, there is hope we'll make the playoffs, go deep into the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup. You could not have said that with a straight face before.
